Reporter Rachael Horne from Teton Valley News wrote and amazing article on DittyClip that describes us better that we can!
If you’re looking for a unique valentine, or maybe a way to wish someone a happy birthday, then a DittyClip may be what you want. A DittyClip is a new way to communicate through video and song. Brothers Ebin and Matthew Prindle said the idea for the DittyClip was a way for them to combine both of their talents along with their other brother, Ben.
“Tell us what you want to say and who you want to say it to and we’ll put your message into a song and video,” said Ebin. The brothers say to forget about thank-you notes, love letters, Hallmark nonsense and even breaking up with a boy or girl via text message. You can tell someone what you really want to say by creating a personalized DittyClip.
Like many good ideas, this one was thought of in the shower. Matthew, who is a freelance designer and studying design and business at Boise State, and his oldest brother, Ebin who also lives in Boise, came up with the DittyClip as a way to combine what each of them love to do. Ebin said Matthew is the kind of all-around guy who’s good at graphic arts and website design and is an entrepreneur. Ebin is the big-picture guy who’s into music producing and writing songs.
“It’s a crazy idea for us,” said Matthew.
The DittyClip then morphed into an opportunity to make a full-blown music video with the help of middle brother Ben, who lives in Los Angeles. All three were home in Teton Valley for Christmas break and someone suggested that they make “Like a Cheese Stick,” a parody of the pop hit “Like a G6.”
Think of a Saturday Night Live Andy Samberg Digital Short, or a Weird Al Yankovic music video with a Teton flair and you have “Like a Cheese Stick.”
The video was a way for them to show off what they are capable of and build up their portfolio. Ben said he is into freestyle rapping, kind of as a joke. They wrote the song in a day, filmed it and edited it. Now they are getting a good response online, which they hope will bring more attention to the DittyClip business.
The three brothers all said they have different talents that compliment each other well.
Both Ben and Matt participated in the Film and Television Institute with Dawn Wells a few years ago and have always been into making videos and music. Matt helped create a video/editing program at Teton High School, and they both got started, being raised in Teton Valley, with ski videos.
So far DittyClips have included birthday messages, congratulations on a new baby, Christmas presents and a send-off for young missionaries, among other things.
And if you’re not creative, don’t worry, that’s what the brothers are there for. You just give them a general idea and they’ll do the rest.
The prices for DittyCllips start at $10 for audio only up to $1,000 for a short film. It’s all customizable though. Visit dittyclip.com to see examples of their work. Right now there is a special for half off DittyClips by entering the code DittyClip50 when purchasing.
